To the left in the above photo is the parsonage, the residence for the pastor and family.

Pastoral couples are needed in Alaska!
Please contact Ted Boatsman in Anchorage if you're interested.

Left:  Flying in to Point Hope. The large building complex is the school.  Above: The small cutout shows the church "below" the school

Jim & Nancy Mercer of Kotzebue are standing at the Point, where, 100 years ago, the land bridge used to reach almost all the way out into the Chukchi Sea towards Russia.  People have lived in Point Hope for over 5,000 years!  Below, the ocean washes over the Point.  Jim comments, "many seals and birds were there that day.  But they will disappear as it gets colder."

"Thank you for the support you send and the prayers you pray, which enable us to go and do what we do, here and everywhere!! We can't do it without ~ YOU!"

Above, left:  The burial place of a whaling captain; the unique "head stone" is the jaw bone of a whale.  Above, right:  An old sod house.  Note the whale bones used for support - there are no trees here.
